Former Councillor and Clerk-Treasurer of Humphrey Township Julia Fraser passed away on May 11, 2023. Seguin Township flags have been lowered to half-mast to honour her service to the community.
Julia Fraser had an incredible impact locally and further afield as a leader in our region and member of the Women's Royal Naval Service.
Fraser was hired as Treasurer of Humphrey in 1966. She went on to serve as Clerk-Treasurer from 1969-1988. Fraser was a Councillor of Humphrey from 1988-1997 and was a member of the Seguin Museum and Cemetery Committees for decades. Her tenure of service to the Township is said to be the longest in Seguin’s history.
“Julia Fraser was an outstanding leader in our Township, sharing her many skills and talents to make Seguin a wonderful place to live, work and play,” says Mayor Ann MacDiarmid. “She carved out a path for women in leadership positions throughout this community and beyond. We are grateful for her many contributions.”
Seguin Township Council and staff extend heartfelt condolences to Julia Fraser’s family and many friends.
