A major winter storm is expected Thursday evening and into the holiday weekend. We would like to remind residents to be prepared for potential power outages, slippery surfaces, dangerous driving conditions and slower than usual road maintenance.
- Be sure you have a 72-hour emergency kit. Learn more here.
- Avoid unnecessary travel.
- Gather extra water for drinking and cooking.
- Follow #ONStorm for updates.
- Follow @OPP_HSD and Ontario 511 for road updates.
- Familiarize yourself with Hydro One outage tools, including outage alerts and the outage map.
- Monitor the forecast and local news.
- Crews are prepared to plough and sand. However, residents should be aware that services will be slower in the event of a storm.
We wish you all a safe and warm holiday.
