Our Community Vision |
The Community Vision has been developed through the Township's Official Plan process. The distinctive and unique identity of Seguin Township comes from the beauty and tranquility of its northern Ontario setting, its 186 lakes of all sizes and character, the vast forested areas, and its beautiful rivers and wetlands. Seguin Township is a place where residents enjoy safe living, scenic beauty and an active community life. The community recognizes the unique physical attributes of Seguin Township and is passionate about preserving the Township's small rural and waterfront character. The preservation and enhancement of these features, while keeping pace with the diverse needs of the community, is a principle tenant of the Township's Vision. Seguin Township's vision is to achieve a community that is sound financially, supportive of appropriate employment opportunities, protective of the 3E's and preserves the unique natural heritage features of the area. The intent of the Vision is also to diversify and create a more vibrant local economy through collaborative partnerships with existing businesses and adjacent municipalities and through proactive efforts to attract new industries and services. |

Official Plan |
What is the Official Plan? The Official Plan is an important policy document Council uses for making land use decisions and managing change in the Township. It sets out a vision for the community based on long-term goals and objectives. All public works, by-laws, including the Town's Comprehensive Zoning By-law, and land use approvals must conform with the Township's Official Plan to ensure that Council's vision is consistently implemented. Official Plan Amendments Amendments to the Official Plan are sometimes necessary when the Plan does not contain policies that address new Provincial and Regional policy directions, local issues and opportunities or specific development proposals. In these cases, the Official Plan can be altered through an Official Plan Amendment (PDF) (OPA) process. The OPA process allows for amendments to the Plan to be evaluated and to be presented to the public before changes are approved by Council. Obtaining a copy of the Official Plan The latest Seguin Township Official Plan is available in print by request, for purchase, from the Planning Department. Successes |
Every year a list of objectives are developed that fall within the categories of Environment, Economic Vitality and Efficient/Effective Service Delivery as set out in Seguin Township's Strategic Plan. Throughout the year the status of the objectives are reviewed and updated and a Successes document is produced for Council and the general public for information. |
Municipal Performance Measurement Program (MPMP) |
The Municipal Performance Measurement Program MPMP is a performance measurement and reporting system that promotes local government transparency and accountability. It also provides municipalities with useful data to make informed municipal service level decisions while optimizing available resources. All Ontario municipalities are required to report MPMP efficiency and effectiveness measures for services provided by their municipality. Eleven service areas are included in the Program:
Municipalities are required to report MPMP results to the province through the Financial Information Return by May 31 following each reporting year. Municipalities must also publish results for local taxpayers by September 30 using a format of their own choosing. If you require a special format to read these documents or any other document referenced on our website, please contact us and we'll do everything we can to provide documents in an accessible format. 2013 Report (PDF) 2011 Report (PDF) 2010 Report (PDF) 2009 Report (PDF) 2008 Report (PDF) 2007 Report (PDF) 2006 Report (PDF) 2005 Report (PDF) 2004 Report (PDF) 2003 Report (PDF) 2002 Report (PDF) 2001 Report (PDF) 2000 Report (PDF) |
