By-law Enforcement Services
By-laws help maintain the quality of your municipality, and every resident of Seguin has a role to play in upholding these standards. Knowing and following our by-laws helps everyone enjoy a clean, safe neighborhood and shared public spaces. Here you can learn more about the Township's By-laws by clicking on the links below or calling 705-732-4300 for more information.
By-laws are established to address local community issues and concerns, under the authority of various Provincial Statutes, including the Municipal Act, Building Code Act, Highway Traffic Act, Dog Owner’s Liability Act and the Provincial Offences Act. These laws aim to safeguard the environment, public health and safety, and ensure an organized and attractive appearance of the community.
The role of the By-law Enforcement Officer includes education, investigation and enforcement of all By-laws within the Township. It is not always necessary for a By-law Enforcement Officer to attend each site to carryout enforcement procedures and may rely on information provided by the complainant.
Seguin’s By-law Enforcement Officers are responsible for investigating and enforcing various municipal by-laws, such as:
- Noise complaints
- Shoreline destruction
- Littering or dumping waste
- Parking complaints
- Animal Services
