The unofficial by-election results will be posted here shortly after the close of voting (8:00 p.m.) on Monday, April 25th. The unofficial results will be replaced by the official results on Tuesday, April 26th.

Notice of Election (pdf)

On January 12, 2016 Councillor Doug Sainsbury resigned his seat as Councillor for Ward 4. Seguin Township Council declared the seat vacant and enacted By-law No. 2016-008 authorizing a by-election to fill the vacant seat. Council also enacted By-law No. 2016-009 authorizing the alternative voting methods of internet and telephone voting for the by-election; the same method used for the 2014 Municipal Election.

Voter Letters

Voter Letters will be mailed out the week of April 11-15 to all electors on the Voters' List with the voting information required to vote including your PIN (personal identification number). If you do not receive your Voter Letter please contact the Municipal Office (705) 732-4300 or 1-877-473-4846 to ensure you are on the Voters' List and that your mailing address is correct.

Voting opens at 10:00 a.m. EST, Tuesday April 19 and closes at 8:00 p.m. EST, Monday, April 25. As Seguin is utilizing internet and telephone voting, electors may cast their vote anytime 24 hours per day 7 days per week between voting opening and closing.     

Voters' List

Notice (pdf) is hereby given to the Municipal Electors of Ward 4 of the Township of Seguin that in compliance with the Municipal Elections Act, a list of all persons entitled to vote in the forthcoming Ward 4 By-Election will be available for viewing commencing February 19, 2016 at the Township of Seguin Municipal Office, 5 Humphrey Drive in Seguin.

Electors should examine the Voters' List to ensure that their names and relevant information are correctly shown. Application may be made by persons for the purpose of making additions or corrections to, or deletions from the said Voters' List to the Municipal Clerk during regular office hours up to and including April 22, 2016 and from 8:30 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. April 25, 2016. The deadline for making application to remove another person's name from the Voters' List is 4:30 p.m. March 11, 2016.

The Revision Period is now open.

Electors may check for their name on the Voters' List by:

  • Calling the Municipal Offices at 705-732-4300 or toll free: 1-877-473-4846 during regular office hours (Monday to Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.)
  • Attending the Municipal Office located at 5 Humphrey Drive, Seguin and speaking to the Clerk's Department staff during regular office hours.

Need to Add your name to the Voters' List or make changes to your information? An eligible elector may add their name to the Voters' List or revise their information by completing an Application to Amend Voters' List form (Form EL 15), which is also available at the Municipal Office at 5 Humphrey Drive, Seguin. You may bring the completed form to the Municipal Office during regular office hours - please bring photo ID showing your address of residence with you. Or you may submit the completed form by mail or email provided you include a copy of your photo ID showing your address of residence. If submitting the form by mail or email please call the municipal office and speak with staff first AND be sure to include your telephone number in your mail or email in the event we need to contact you.

Internet & Telephone Voting

The Internet and Telephone Voting system replaces the traditional polling place method and eliminates the need for advance polls and voting proxies. It also improves voter access and increases voter participation.

Voter Instruction Letters

Eligible electors of Ward 4 on the Voters' List should receive their Voter Letter the week of April 11, 2016 with instructions as to how and when to vote.
